Types of Multi-layer farming

Multi-layer farming

Multi-layer farming comprises growing compatible plants of different heights on the same field at the same time. This helps in keeping a good field through establishing the optimum crop rotation and crop rotation is about rotating crops that can be used throughout the years in our farm like wheat, maize, jowar, ragi, millet, or sorghum, or even soybean and can even include the multi-year planting of millets and millets, like Sangu, sorghum, urad, barley.

However, farmers have to face multiple issues like weeds, pests, and diseases, resulting in poor farming practices. Also, with multi-layer farming, we have to have perfect growing practices, resulting in good yields, improved crop quality, and satisfactory agronomic practices. But it has been observed that very few farmers in this country can use good growing practices in their farming.

You can solve this problem by planting multi-layer farming,

First in the outer field to manage weeds or pests, secondly by planting a mixture of millets and non-millets, such as jowar or corn, and then planting a mixture of multi-year crops. In the middle field, you can grow multi-layer crops like wheat or pulses or some combination of paddy, cereals, and pulses or sowing wheat on a multi-layer field and then planting the multi-year crop mix like millets or sorghum on the inner field.

So the objective of this multi-layer farming is to have enough agricultural land to grow multiple crops on the same farm with the help of agriculture inputs. This will provide better farming practices by reducing fertilizers, pesticides, weeds, pests, and diseases and optimizing the farming land on the small and marginal farming units.

Multiple institutions have successfully implemented multi-layer farming in this country, like National Horticulture Mission (NAHM), Soil and Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC), and Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, which has developed a ‘Multi-layer Farming Model’ for multi-layer farming, small and marginal farmers can make a collective income of about Rs. 35,000 per hectare per year.

About 8-10% of the farmers’ income can be generated through this multi-layer farming model by using minimum land, minimum water, minimum fertilizer, which improves farmers’ livelihoods. Also, farmers can improve their farm productivity and productivity of agricultural land by using multi-layer farming.

The farmers can save up to 80% of fertilizers and pesticides for their crops through this agriculture input conservation. As farmers have to use fewer fertilizers and pesticides, they can apply those to their multi-year crops, growing on the same field.

The farmers need to do about 70% more farming and save up to 50% more fertilizer, pesticides, and water on this field and provide good farming practices to their farming fields. Also, the farmers can save up to 25% of income created through the extra payment of Rs. 8,800-20,000 per acre or a minimum of Rs. 2,500 per acre in the scheme of the National Multi-Layer Farming Model.

As agriculture productivity in India is very low, and the agriculture input expenditure is very high, farmers have to use less agricultural inputs. Farmers can get a good profit on the extra production by increasing farm productivity. Therefore farmers can increase their incomes by using this multi-layer farming model.

Now farmers are very much interested in applying multi-layer farming. Farmers from various parts of the country accept this multi-layer farming model and are growing multi-layer crops in their farms.

So farmers and farmer’s organizations need to work together to spread this agriculture input conservation. The farmers need to grow different crops simultaneously and organize themselves to achieve multi-layer farming at a massive level.

Farmers need to join themselves and organize themselves in groups, clubs, and other voluntary organizations to bring out this multi-layer farming model. Multi-layer farming can be promoted through farmer’s unions and farmer’s organizations, so farmers and farmer’s organizations need to organize themselves to generate this agriculture input conservation.

Meanwhile, agriculture experts and farmer’s organizations need to work together to provide this multi-layer farming model. So we need to spread the agriculture input conservation throughout the country.

Irrigation is required for farming. But irrigation is shallow in the country. So we need to grow different crops in the same field. A farmer should take a tiny piece of land in a particular area and grow multi-layer farming. Grow different types of multi-year crops like wheat or millets or sowing wheat on a multi-layer field and then planting the multi-year crop mix like millets or sorghum on the inner field.

The farmer can reduce the use of fertilizer, pesticides, water, and labor on their fields so that farmers can save money. At the same time, farmers can get better agriculture input conservation. This agriculture input conservation can improve farmers’ livelihoods and help farmers get better income and livelihood.

The farmers can get good agricultural input conservation, and they can improve their farm productivity and productivity of agricultural land by using multi-layer farming.

Farmers need to change their farming practices. Farmers need to change their farming practices. And farmers also need to grow different crops in the same field. Many farmers have started this multi-layer farming on their fields. Hence, farmers need to share their experiences on this multi-layer farming model and help other farmers. Hence, farmers need to join farmer’s organizations, farmer’s unions, and farmer’s groups. Then farmers need to learn, spread, and spread the agriculture input conservation in every country’s village.

Farmers organizations need to work together to promote multi-layer farming in every village. Farmer’s organizations should make all the arrangements related to agriculture input conservation. Farmers need to engage with farmers’ organizations.

Farmers organizations need to organize farmers and educate farmers about agriculture input conservation, and agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced throughout the country.

Only then can farmers develop agriculture input conservation better, and farmers can save their money. Multi-layer farming will help farmers and farmer’s organizations to improve their agricultural productivity.

So farmers, farmer’s organizations, agricultural exports, and agricultural experts need to develop agriculture input conservation, and agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced throughout the country.

Farmers need to organize themselves to change their farming practices and get agriculture input conservation. Agriculture input conservation is only beneficial for farmers, and farmer’s organizations can also benefit from agriculture input conservation.

Spread the agriculture input conservation among all farmers, farmer’s organizations, and agricultural experts. Farmer’s organizations need to educate farmers about agriculture input conservation, and agricultural input conservation needs to be practiced better.

Farmers organizations need to organize farmers to make agriculture input conservation programs. Farmer’s organizations need to educate farmers about agriculture input conservation, and agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced better.

So we need to spread agriculture input conservation in all villages and every district of the country.

If farmers can give proper education about agriculture input conservation to the farmers, then farmers can understand agriculture input conservation and agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced in a better way. This agriculture input conservation is a great initiative that helps farmers to improve the farmers’ livelihood.

Therefore we need to spread agriculture input conservation in all farmers. Farmers need to spread agriculture input conservation among all farmers and in all villages and every district in the country. Agricultural experts need to encourage farmers, and agricultural experts need to encourage farmers to be educated about agriculture input conservation. Agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced in a better way.

Farmers organizations need to organize farmers, and farmers need to join farmer’s organizations and unions. And farmers also need to learn and spread the agriculture input conservation to other farmers.

It will help farmers to get more income and a better livelihood. So farmers need to encourage the farmers, and the farmers need to encourage the farmers to be educated about agriculture input conservation.

Farmers need to participate and participate in agricultural input conservation, and agriculture input conservation needs to be practiced in a better way. Farmers need to be educated, and they need to learn agriculture input conservation. Farmers need to understand agriculture input conservation. Multi-layer farming
